For many of us the holidays begin with travel home, to family or that long awaited vacation. Memories of the holidays linger in our thoughts and cherished pictures help us recall those times. Often the trip home is part of those festive memories, especially if it’s a road trip or by train.
Train depots and stations set a mood of nostalgia, romance and adventure. An old station is filled with memories of all the people for generations that have rode the rails home to celebrate the season. The familiar sound of the train whistle can transport us back in time to holidays past. Fortunately for us there are train, trolley and depot museums that we can visit over the holidays.
This my photo essay in images of a historic train depot. The photos were taken at the Lisle Depot Museum, free admission, that is family friendly and is one of the Museums at Lisle Station Park. The price of the ticket is your imagination.

There is something about the color red. I love the caboose. But that tall tree next to the truck? That’s about the skinniest tree I ever did see, but very festive
Happy holidays.
