Sign of Summer

Today is the first day of summer.  Spring is going out like a lion, and summer is coming in like a lamb.  It’s a cool start to summer with temperatures going up and then down.  It’s chilly by the beaches.  I want to move into summer exploring shoreline, parks and towns.

Long  stormy spring-time, wet contentious April, winter chilling the lap of very May;  but at length the season of summer does come.  Thomas  Carlyle

For a Weekly Photo Challenge: The Sign Says and the start of summer, I’m sharing a surf shop sign photo.  It conveys summer to me with waves and sandy beaches with a little nostalgia.

When I see it I think flip-flop sandals, beach bag, fish fries and summer.

It’s a typical sign in lakeside towns around the Great Lakes region where people flock to from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Happy First Day of Summer.
