Have you ever wondered why some squash have the same names as or related to trees like acorn or butternut. It must be confusing for people who have never planted or bought the squash. Dark green acorn squash looks nothing the acorn from a tree.
I know pumpkin is a popular squash and a table centerpiece on Halloween carved up with a candle inside. It also claims a top spot as a pie filling on the Thanksgiving Day supper. I think spaghetti or noodle squash looks good, shaped as a yellow football, and is a tasty surprise inside filling like noodles. I saw this one tucked behind leaves and squash blossoms; oblong yellow and tasty. It’s a nice treat to have squash and other fresh vegetables on the table in summer.
