Summer Hawk

summer hawk

hawk flies low over a lake

The lake was like a deep blue mirror reflecting sky and trees on its surface. There was quiet atmosphere around the shoreline broken only by the occasional sound of a fishing line being cast and a lure hitting the water or hikers’ boots crunching on a nearby path.

Then silently with speed I saw a dark span of wings dive low along the surface of the lake. Another fisherman had approached and swooped in for its catch. I saw the strength and beauty of a summer hawk.

For the Weekly Photo Challenge – Foreshadow, I knew it grab its catch.
