Winter Trail

winter trail

winter trail on single lane road

With the Midwest still frozen in the icy grip of winter and snow, paths and trails are washed in white with the occasional stark brown and gray of trees and rocks framing the landscape. There is a silence on the trails and paths with few hikers and birds venturing into the frigid woods or parks.

It’s still winter with valleys and hills blanketed in white, and rivers turned into large blocks of ice pushing against bridges and embankments while uprooting trees.

It’s seems spring won’t break through the frozen horizon for a while yet, until winter is ready to release its grip.

  1. It does look as though winter has settled in for a long stay.
Here we never had much snow this year, and already the grass and wild garlic is starting to show green!
