The path I’m on winds and twists through canopies of trees, in and out of deep woods, and to an unexpected vista of wetlands.
Raindrops keep falling during a light spring shower hitting the surface of the water, making ducks scurry for the shore. It’s not a heavy rain, so birds sing and chirp loudly through the rain and the overcast sky intensifies the colors around me.
I usually see mallard ducks and an occasional teal duck, but these are different. They look like hooded mergansers. A pleasant surprise to see them on my hike.
